Tribute Karpenissi
Karpenisi capital of the prefecture, is built on the southern slopes of Velouchi at an altitude of 1000m in a wooded area of fir, pine and chestnut trees. It took its name from the word Koutsovlach «carpinisi», which means a place with many pseftoplatania, but also from the Turkish word “car,” which means snow and “Benita” which means that investors’ snow-covered.
Karpenissi a suitable destination for those seeking action and extreme sports but for relaxation and rest. Monasteries, churches, Byzantine monuments, museums, stone bridges, taverns, traditional hostels, luxurious hotels, extreme sports, skiing and breathtaking scenery of natural beauty compose the picture Kerpenisiou and the surrounding area.
The area is also an organized ski center. Located in Velouchi has seven lifts, twelve tracks, ski school, rental shop and ski equipment sales, bar and restaurant. Throughout the course of the winter, the ski resort Karpenisi competitions and demonstrations, ski, snowboard and snowmobile.

Agios Nikolaos is a lovely Evritania village just 9 km from Karpenissi. Agios Nikolaos is famous for its chestnuts and delicious bean. The square is the old church of St. Nicholas adorns the village since 1887. The surrounding area will find many good sites and monuments like the church of Agia Paraskevi Platanias positions, skulls and Palialona.
Miriki. It is a small village among the trees at a distance of 9 km. Disco In the center of the village is the church of St. George and the top of the picturesque village church of Prophet Elijah with traditional tap and built tables.
Koryschades is a beautiful, traditional village with old houses, built between trees at an altitude of 960m. 6 km from Karpenissi. On Koryschades can visit the old mansions, the church of St. Athanasius and the stone school that operates as a Museum of National Resistance. From Koryschades nearby destinations are worth mentioning as well as visit the Kumasi area, where the monastery of the Virgin Mary, the gorge Pantavrechi the battlefield in bones, the chestnut forest of Saint-Nicolas, pond Kremasta and Unwritten.
Voutiro is a beautiful village with great views, built on a slope and is 9km. from Karpenissi. Butter is the largest, stone church of the county, the Holy Friday. The village houses and taverns throughout the year.St. Andrew is located 8 km. Disco There are many natural attractions such as Astrapovrysi and refreshing water. It is the birthplace of the hero of Greek Revolution Athanasios Karpenisiotis.

FOLK ART MUSEUM GRAND VILLAGE
Accommodates traditional costumes, household items, pieces of art. It is 14km. from Karpenissi.
NATIONAL MUSEUM OF RESISTANCE
KoryschadesThe museum is a monument of the village primary school. There is an exhibition of photographs by photographer Spyros Meletzis National Resistance.
SMALL MUSEUM IN OLD TOWN
Housed in the old village school and consists of three rooms. It features rare photographs of the village’s landslide in 1963, photographs and artifacts from the resistance, pieces of the printing house that existed writings of the time, traditional costumes, folk art objects, ancient artifacts, pottery, etc. It is 16 km. MUSEUM OF THE MONASTERY PROUSSOS
Books hosts the 15 th and 16 th century, manuscripts, printed books, a sword from 1821 that might be of Karaiskaki many vestments.
You can also visit the Museum Viniani, Monastir Tatarna Museum, the Folklore Museum and Historical Domnista, the Folklore Museum, Holy Trinity, the Museum of Folk Art Trovato and Folklore Museum Granitsa.
